The following guide describes how to use the Archie solution
1. Start the Archie Windows app from your Windows Start Menu - just type ‘archie’ to locate it
2. The Archie application runs in the background - this can be confirmed by the small Archie icon displayed on the right-hand side of your taskbar, near the clock:
3. Open the Archie folder by opening Windows Explorer and clicking on the Archie icon in the Quick Access section:
Note: You can also open the Archie folder by double-clicking the Archie icon on the taskbar:
4. The Archie file window contains a QR code - open the Archie app on your iPhone or Android smartphone to scan the barcode to begin a new image capture & transfer process:
Note: The first time you run Archie on your smartphone, you may be prompted to allow the app to use the smartphone camera - we recommend choosing ‘While using the app’:
5. The smartphone app will display the text ‘Please scan QR code’. You do not need to press anything to tell Archie to begin scanning - simply position your smartphone until the display shows the barcode in view:
6. When the Archie smartphone app has successfully acquired the QR code, a secure connection is established between your smartphone and your PC - you are now ready to begin taking pictures with your smartphone!
Note: The Windows Archie folder will now be empty until you start capturing images - the QR code is removed until the session is ended - a new QR code will be placed into the folder for the next session once you have finished the current session:
7. When the Archie smartphone app is in image capture mode, the following buttons and icons are displayed:
7. Start capturing images with your phone’s camera - you can capture multiple images without having to wait for the images to be transferred to your PC.
Note: A progress bar will be displayed while Archie transfers images to your PC - you can continues to capture images while this is displayed:
8. Your captured images will be automatically placed within the Windows Archie folder:
9. The images you capture with Archie will remain in the Windows folder only until you press ‘DONE’ within the Archie smartphone app. When you press ‘DONE’, the secure session is closed and all images are removed from your PC.
Note: Archie does not store any images within the smartphone app and they only exist on your PC while the current active session remains open. Please ensure that you have moved the images on your PC to your intended destination e.g. attaching to a referral, patient record or other system. Images cannot be restored once the session has been ended.
10. When you are finished with the images and want to end the current session, simply tap ‘DONE’ on your smartphone. The Windows Archie folder will be emptied of images and a new QR code will be automatically placed in the Archie folder ready for your next session:
